The Washington Post agrees with me!

I don't know why I take obscure pleasure in having the Washington Post repeat me, several months later. More or less, anyway. When one says the painfully, sadly obvious, one is bound to be repeated, sooner or later.

Who do I like among the presidential candidates? I fear the Republican candidates would all continue the downward cycle of war-mismanagment and increasing presidential concentration of power. McCain sounds like he might change the war-management, but he is also sensitive to conservative political pressure. I still think he is the best of the Republican lot, though, in terms of character and experience.

The Democrats have my vote this election. Hillary can't get elected in the South, although she has experience. Barak has some character and drive, and he might get my vote. Biden has a vast amount of experience and a vision for Iraq--if he can keep his tongue, I will vote for him. Both Senator Dodd and Governor Richardson are both smart and have ideas--who knows? Forget the smarmy, inexperienced Edwards--I have met too many lawyers to be impressed by a smooth-talking, feel-your-pain guy with a pretty face. I still remember Dick Cheney taking Edwards apart in their 2004 debate--I want a guy who can kick Cheney's self-righteous, lying butt in a debate. And Kucinich and Gravel sounded like left-wing firebrands in the debate, and I know that's Kucinich on a normal day. No to them--I want someone to win this election and govern from the center, not make a useless statement.

Democrats, pay attention--the truth about the last four years shall set you free. Be realists and don't blow this one.
