And what is the first article I read in Kenya?

News starved, I perked up when our driver, Daniel, bought a paper and tucked it beside him. I borrowed it, and dove straight to the International News. Texas?? A news article from my home state in a Kenyan paper? How wierd. And, it turns out, how tragic.

The article told me that an Austin mob beat a man to death after he struck a child with his car, in front of dozens of onlookers. I assumed the child died.

The true story is interesting and sad, and very different. And you should probably read it here.

How the news stretches stories. I once knew exactly where a plane crashed, because I watched it happen. Two days later, the nightly news reported that the plane had hit over a mile away, across two major roads. Keep in mind, this was local nightly news--they might be expected to get the right neighborhood, at least.
